Toyama

Toyama Prefecture is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces Toyama Bay to the north.
In the southeastern part of the prefecture lies the Tateyama Mountain Range of the Northern Alps, with peaks reaching around 3,000 meters. Snow that falls on these mountains eventually flows into Toyama Bay. The bay is home to a rich variety of marine life, and many migratory fish also visit its waters.

Centered around Toyama City, the prefecture is compact, with municipalities spread within a radius of about 50 kilometers.
With well-developed secondary transportation such as city trams, private railways, and sightseeing buses, visitors can enjoy a comfortable journey using public transit.

Message from GTSJ President

he Gas Turbine Society of Japan (GTSJ) celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2022, and a commemorative ceremony and lectures were held successfully. We edited the society’s fifty years historical data and has released it to the members’ site on our homepage. We also revised our educational material “Gas Turbine Engineering” and published the second edition in 2023. We will provide various forums for discussion in Japan and internationally to promote the development of gas turbine and energy-related technology. We will also begin preparations to host the international congresses, ACGT and the IGTC in Japan in 2026 and 2027, respectively. We hope our activities will facilitate collaboration between industry, government, and academia to accelerate the implementation of improved products.
